Cross-listing of Common Core Areas
To promote cross-disciplinary education, common core courses in the Broadening group can be listed in either one or two common core areas. For courses cross-listed under two areas, please ensure the course contains a substantial portion of content related to both areas, generally falling within a range of 40% to 60%. You are required to briefly elaborate how the course intended learning outcomes (ILOs) could achieve the ILOs of each of the two areas.
Due to the distinct nature, features, and focus of common core courses in most areas in the Foundations and Experiencing groups, these courses cannot be cross-listed with any other common core areas across different common core groups. However, the Chinese Communication (C-Comm) area is an exception, allowing for cross-listing with the Humanities (H) area in the Broadening group. This exception provides greater flexibility for students, particularly those with strong Chinese proficiency, to fulfill their C-Comm requirement while exploring interdisciplinary connections within Humanities.
