Academic Director’s Message

As a proud alumnus of HKUST, I’m excited to step into the role of Academic Director for Undergraduate Core Education. It feels like just yesterday that I was sitting where you are now, embarking on my own university journey. Trust me when I say that this experience is about so much more than just preparing for a job—it’s about growing as a person.

The Common Core Program is here to enrich your time at university, helping you become responsible citizens and independent thinkers. Think of it as more than just a set of classes; it’s a chance to explore new ideas, broaden your horizons, and really understand yourself, your local communities, and the world around you.

I encourage you to dive into this journey with enthusiasm. The skills you’ll pick up here—like critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication—are invaluable, no matter what career path you choose. Our goal is to spark your passion for learning and empower you to strive for excellence in everything you do. But it’s not just about academics. The Common Core also encourages you to connect with your community and reflect on how you can make a difference. It’s about fostering a sense of social responsibility and understanding the impact you can have on the world.

So, let’s make the most of this experience together! The Common Core is truly a program to broaden, to inspire, and to empower you as you navigate your studies and prepare for the future. Embrace the opportunities that come your way, engage with your peers, and challenge yourself to grow both academically and personally.

Looking forward to seeing all the amazing things you’ll accomplish!

Warm regards,
