Rules and Requirements

The 36-credit Program is for students admitted in 2021-22 or before

To successfully navigate your academic journey, it is essential to fulfill your Common Core requirements. These requirements are designed to provide you with a well-rounded education while allowing flexibility in course selection. By following the guidelines outlined below, you can ensure that you meet all necessary criteria while making the most of your available courses.

To complete your Common Core requirements, follow these key points:

1. Course Selection: Use the common core course search engine to choose your course(s). This ensures you are selecting from the current offerings that fulfill your requirements. Be sure to take these courses in the academic term they are listed, as courses not included on the list for that term cannot be used to satisfy your common core requirements. You can also check the lists to see if any courses you took in previous years can be applied.

2. Course Overlap: Some courses may be listed under multiple common core areas. However, you can only count each course toward one area, not all. Choose wisely to align with your desired common core area(s).

3. Additional Graduation Requirements: Common core courses may also satisfy other graduation requirements, but be aware of any additional restrictions set by your major program. Familiarize yourself with the specific requirements of your major.

4. Multiple Major Programs: If you are enrolled in more than one major, ensure that the reuse of common core courses complies with the individual restrictions of each major program. Understanding and adhering to these restrictions is essential to meet the requirements for all your programs.
